Research Activities

The Group for Ecological Systems Design at the Institute of Environmental Engineering is one of the leading research groups in the area of prospective environmental assessments of chemical products and processes as well as technologies applied in different industries such as the cement and aluminium industry and the waste and water management sector.

Contribution to PROSUITE

ETH contributes to WP3 on Environmental Assessment and to WP6 on case studies. Within WP3, ETH contributes to the development of operational methods for geographically differential water use assessment (relevant for the biorefinery case study) and for indoor exposure (relevant for the nanotechnology case study). ETH leads WP6 on case studies, and is in charge of the nanotechnology case study. ETH also contributes to identifying streamlined indicators that represent total environmental impact and can be easily communicated to decision makers, within WP8.
